Entries for the fifth edition of Peugeot's annual design competition can be submitted to the Design section of the the company's website (click link below) starting today, 30 May. The deadline for entries is 20 July 2008.

This year's competition calls for young designers to 'imagine a Peugeot for the megalopolis of tomorrow'. Entrants are asked to design a concept car for use in the center of the great urban cities of the future, while embracing the key values of the 21st century and at the same time, bearing all of Peugeot's recognized styling cues. Submitted entries must integrate all four dimensions specific to this design competition: environmental friendliness, social harmony, interactive mobility and economic efficiency.

The design competition jury - consisting of Peugeot representatives and members of its Style Center as well as representatives from Xbox - will select 30 entries from 25 July to 31 July. The choice will ultimately be made according to the criteria of originality in the submitted design, quality of the end product (visuals, animations), explanations of the concept and above all consistency with the theme.

Internet users will be permitted to cast their votes on the Peugeot website from 15 August to select 10 finalists. These selected designs will be put online beginning on 16 September, with the result of the competition announced on 2 October at the Peugeot stand at the Paris Motor Show. Jean-Philippe Collin, Managing Director of Automobiles Peugeot, will present the 'La Griffe' trophy to the winning designer.

The winning model will then be built by the company in full scale between October 2008 and March 2009 and unveiled on the Peugeot stand at the Shanghai Motor Show in April 2009.

In order to encourage young talent Peugeot has introduced new prizes for the competition. The winner will not only see their model built in full size, but will also receive a check for €10,000 and an Xbox 360 games console. As in previous competitions, the 29 other projects will also attract prizes.

The competition has attracted more than 12,600 entries from 9,300 young designers since it was launched in 2000. The average age of entrants was 22 in 2007, with 113 countries represented.
