Making that long journey in the Camry was actually pretty pleasant, too. Yeah, we could have made the L.A.-SF trip in an hour or so on a plane, but making that trip in the Camry was a lot more comfortable (and cheaper) than any round-trip flight on SouthWest ever could be. Sporty-looking or not, our test car still is a Camry, so its cockpit is as nice and as comfortable as any other Toyota (save for the Echo - that thing was horrible...)

While the Camry's interior styling is a little bland, it is at least very clean. There are no buttons scattered all over the place, it isn't over-designed (as the dash from the last-gen Echo was) and the fit and finish are superb. While the dash looks so-so during the day, it actually gets pretty cool at night. In the dark, the entire dash takes on an eerie blue glow -- it looks a bit futuristic, and we'd say that this Camry's trick interior lighting would look right at home on a Scion. Our test car also came with an auxiliary-in jack, 440 watt 6-disc stereo and heated leather seats, so as if we need to say it again, this Camry was a very comfortable place to be during those 7-hour stretches of driving.

All in all, our Camry SE, with its aero kit, sport-tuned suspension, 268-horsepower V6, heated leather seats, 440-watt stereo and more came in at a very reasonably-priced $29,638. We'd say this car is perfect for the guy that needs a "family car" but still wants to look cool. We actually kind of want one of these, too.

Toyota Camry SE (2007)

Toyota's "Camry" has never been synonymous with "exciting", and it's easy to see why. Toyota's bread-and-butter family sedan has typically appealed to family-types, and by "family-types", we mean the people that don't get excited about cars -- the types of people that see cars as only a form of transportation to places such as work or school. These types of people just need a car to be economical, reliable, roomy and able to get the kids to school and soccer practice without much fuss. And we must say, the Camry has always done these typical "family" duties very well.

What the Camry has not done well is stir the emotions of people. Since its inception, the Camry has looked... well... bland. Not that it needs to look sexy, the Camry is one of the best-selling vehicles in North America. The SE-spec version of the last-gen Camry was starting to look good, but it still didn't look as exciting as the offerings from Nissan and Honda.

So for 2007, Toyota gave its family sedan workhorse a new powertrain and a significant face lift. The Camry's new appearance may not appeal to the car's traditional target demographic, but the kids sure seem to love this new look. We decided to get the keys to an '07 Camry and see if the new car can live up to its sporty new appearance.
Toyota Camry SE (2007)Our test car is the sporty SE version, so it has quite a bit more flare than the standard sedan. In addition to a sport-tuned suspension, the Camry SE comes with a full aero kit, underbody aerodynamics and 17-inch alloy wheels. For some reason, this Camry really appeals to car-loving 20-somethings. Not only do our friends in the tuning industry keep asking us about this car, random strangers stop us in parking lots to ask questions about this new sporty-looking sedan. While we're sure this curbside appeal may die down in a year or two, we'll bet our house that this is the first Camry to even have a curbside appeal. Based on its looks alone, we could see this Camry becoming a favorite of State-side VIP tuners...

The performance of this "sport-edition" Camry ain't too shabby, either. We took this Camry up to San Francisco and back, as we wanted to see how it fared as a cruiser. Long story short, this Camry fared quite nicely. A new 268-horsepower/248 lb.-ft. torque 3.5-liter V6 lies under the hood of this car, and it's mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with a "sport-shift" mode. We found that the new Camry is able to get up to speed quite easily. Even when we're cruising at freeway speeds, we can still stab the gas to pass slower cars with ease.
Toyota Camry SE (2007)Toyota says that the Camry SE uses some type of underbody aerodynamics to make the car more stable at high speeds, but we didn't quite feel it. At prolonged speeds north of 80-90 mph, the car would start to feel really light. At first we thought we were just getting hit by strong crosswinds, but when we saw the grassy fields and trees standing motionless out the window, that theory quickly disappeared. Still, the Camry SE can handle long stretches of open highway at speeds of 85 mph without difficulty.

Speaking of high-speed runs on long, open stretches of freeway, the Camry SE gets some pretty impressive gas mileage. If we wanted to, we could go from Los Angeles to San Francisco on just one tank of gas. Mind you, we did fill up mid-way, but that was mostly so we could fill up on food... Though stiffer than the suspension found on the regular car, the "sport tuned" suspension of the Camry SE isn't harsh at all; our test car's suspension was able to absorb all road imperfections without transferring any of that harshness into the cabin.
Toyota Camry SE (2007)Making that long journey in the Camry was actually pretty pleasant, too. Yeah, we could have made the L.A.-SF trip in an hour or so on a plane, but making that trip in the Camry was a lot more comfortable (and cheaper) than any round-trip flight on SouthWest ever could be. Suzuki Kizashi Concept Car

Suzuki Kizashi Concept CarAs we told you a few weeks ago, Suzuki's got themselves a concept car here at the Frankfurt Auto Show and it's called the Kizashi. We don't know much else about it mostly because we can't seem to find a press release on it, but it looks kinda sweet, don't it? The one thing we do know is that according to MoneyControl India, which may be a website about controling the world's banks, India's banks or just about personal finance — they think it's going to be built and Suzuki will be sending a lot of them over to the land of the big Tata. We'll see. We'll also let you know if we get a press release on it.

Toyota Camry Images

Toyota Camry ImagesThe Toyota Camry is amid sized sedan which is assembled in Kentucky and the original factory is in Toyota City, Japan. Though in the United States it is considered as an entry level luxury car in many other markets in the world it is seen as a top level executive car.
The Toyota Camry was the best sold car in the United States and enjoyed a wide consumer market and even till today it enjoys a fair amount of market share in the United States. The Toyota Camry was introduced in 1983 and did not a make a huge noise about its launch but the response for it was tremendous. It replaced the rear wheel drive Corona completely and the Corona almost vanished. The Toyota Camry is a car which has been aimed specifically at the American Market. Even till today the midsize sedan market is dominated by the Camry and would continue so for the foreseeable future because for its pricing it is the most reliable car, comfortable, durable and ranks one in quality.

Audi R8 GT3 Race Car

Audi R8 GT3 Race CarAudi Sport will offer for the very first time, a racing sports car, specifically developed for customer use in the form of the powerful 500 hp plus GT3 version of the Audi R8which will be available from autumn 2009.
Audi R8 GT3 Race CarThe new R8 race version supercar features lots of performance upgrades over current R8 models, and has been designed to conform to GT3 racing regulations. The 2010 R8 GT3 features several changes from the production car, what we know about the performance upgrades on GT3 are, a 6 speed sequential manual transmission, and a gasoline motor promising more than 500 horsepower.
Audi R8 GT3 Race CarThe R8 is the first production Audi bearing the name and genes of a successful racing sportscar and is therefore an excellent base from which to build up our first big customer sport programme,” explains Head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich. “Ever since the R8 was unveiled we’ve been inundated with enquiries for a race version. With the Audi R8 we will offer customers a racing sportscar equipped with high-calibre technology and the typical Audi qualities, but which is nevertheless easy to handle.

2010 Audi R8

2010 Audi R8The 2010 Audi R8 lineup gains a new, more powerful model. This 2-seat exotic car has Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive and a mid-mounted engine. The entry-level 4.2 has a 420-horsepower 4.2-liter V8 engine. New for 2010 is the 5.2, which has a 525-horsepower 5.2-liter V10. Both models are available with a 6-speed manual transmission or Audi’s R tronic 6-speed automated manual.
2010 Audi R8Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, side airbags, and knee airbags. Standard features on all R8 models include leather upholstery, heated seats, and wireless cell-phone link.
2010 Audi R8A hill-holder clutch, front- and rear-obstacle detection, rearview camera, navigation system, and high-end Bang and Olufsen audio system are standard on the 5.2 and optional on the 4.2. Note that, in calendar 2010, a 2-door convertible is slated to join the R8 lineup.

2008 Edo Competition Lamborghini Gallardo SLE

2008 Edo Competition Lamborghini Gallardo SLEWith the modified Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera edo competition Motorsport has now added a second high-profile Italian racer to its tuning program after the Murciélago LP 640. Like its bigger brother, this sports car with the bull in its logo excels through its highlighted racing genes and more aggressive appearance after being modified at edo competition.

The most remarkable feature is the sensational acceleration. edo competition achieves these figures thanks to the installation of a massive air box, high flow catalytic converters which are a completely new design and a recalibration of the engine electronics. All components together raise the power output to 560 hp (411 kW) at 8,250 rpm. The power increase of 30 hp / 22 kW boosts the top speed by about 6 km/h (4 mph) to 320 km/h (199 mph). Another highlight: The sound volume of the modified exhaust system can be adjusted via remote.

The sporty concept of the edo Gallardo Superleggera is rounded off with 19“ three-piece racing wheels with an artificially-aged cast center-section, hand-polished outer rims and 39 stainless steel screws.

The front wheels are shod in stock-sized or (on request) 245/35 ZR 19 rubber while 305/30 ZR 19 Dunlop Sport Maxx tires are used on the rear axle. With this solution edo competition enables its customers to reuse the factory tires on their new wheels.

edo competition treats the masculine stance of the Gallardo Superleggera to an additional testosterone injection by lowering the suspension by a good 15 mm and through the use of corner-weighting. With these upgrades, the Lambo sticks to the road so firmly and unflappably that it would take an earthquake to upset its poise.

Verdict from the July 2008 Autobild comparison test „Edo Gallardo / MTM R8“: „The edo Gallardo Superleggera is the more harmonic and better balanced car. Very quick, great to control and of the finest quality in all aspects”!

2011 Future Cars

2011 Future CarsThe FutureThe economy's still in the proverbial dumpster. The fate of two of the Detroit Three is hanging on by a lug nut that's almost off the thread. No one who builds cars has been unscathed by the carnage. As John Krafcik, U.S. CEO of Hyundai -- one of the few automakers who have managed to keep its head just above a sea of red ink -- remarked recently: "flat is the new up."And as if there isn't already enough for board members and CEOs to fret over already, pressure continues to build to deliver ever greener, stratospherically high mileage machines with technologically advanced alternative powertrains, and oh yeah, do it like yesterday. It's in this incredibly challenging and dynamically changing automotive landscape that the world's automakers, despite the myriad challenges confronting them, continue to forge ahead with plans for their next generation of four-wheeled offerings.Despite it all, there's still a lot to look forward to in the near future. So we've went ahead assembled another list of more than two dozen vehicles that are on the way to showrooms within the next two years or so as a follow-up to our recent 2010 Future Cars roundup. From high dollar exotics (Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Aston Martin Rapide) to fuel-sipping econoboxes (Chevrolet Spark, Scion iQ), to hyper green machines (Honda CR-Z, Chevrolet Volt) and everything in between, the group of vehicles assembled represents the beginnings of a seismic shift in automotive transportation. Here's hoping that once the economy finally climbs out of its doldrums that what remains of the automotive industry emerges stronger and better equipped to build cars like the ones you'll find on the following pages.

2011 Kia Forte Five-Door - Three is a Charm

2011 Kia Forte Five-Door - Three is a CharmKorean automaker Kia has found much success in its compact Forte line, due to sedan and coupe body styles prized for its good looks, fun to drive capabilities and value. Knowing that it has a good thing going for it, Kia has rolled out a third body style, a five-door hatchback, just in time for the 2011 model year.

The latest Forte bridges what the sedan and coupe have to offer. With plenty of storage capacity and the good looks to go with it, the hatchback will likely make it difficult for shoppers to decide which Forte they want. Each body style offers distinct advantages although the hatchback just may provide a happy middle ground for shoppers.

Officially known as the Forte five-door, this body style features a new grille, alloy wheels, lower valence design, updated center console, paddle shifters, push-button start and navigation as well as the fifth-door for hatch compartment access. Otherwise, the five-door shares all other components and features of the coupe and sedan.

2011 Volkswagen Jetta

2011 Volkswagen JettaVolkswagen enthusiasts are waiting with eagerness as the all-new Jetta goes into production and hits the dealer room floor in the coming months. Since its introduction in the mid-1980s, the Jetta has stood out from other compact models thanks to its design, engine choices and dependability. But the sixth generation model is likely to be perceived as the best, offering improved cabin room, a sleek style and class leading fuel economy.

Jetta is the best selling Volkswagen model, easily outselling the Golf/Rabbit and the only compact car built in Germany and sold in the United States within the financial range of the masses. No, the Jetta isn't a Mercedes or BMW, but it does offer craftsmanship and more upscale cabin then the typical car in its class.

Future Car - 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Future Car - 2011 Chevrolet CruzeGeneral Motors (GM) has been absolutely transparent when it comes to new product reveals, choosing to show as much as they can about a future product even before it goes into production. This move on GM's part is meant to shore up consumer and shareholder confidence, offering proof that the automaker is heading in the right direction by building smaller, much more fuel efficient vehicles.

Introducing The Chevy Cruze

One of the cars that will influence GM for years to come is the Chevrolet Cruze (pronounced cruise) a compact car slightly larger than the current Chevy Cobalt. Originally, it appeared that GM would replace the Cobalt with the Cruze, but after the August 2008 press reveal in Lordstown, Ohio, management has indicated that the Cobalt may soldier on as a separate model.

Regardless of where GM stands with the Cobalt, the Cruze is the car that could make or break the automaker when it goes on sale in Europe beginning in Spring 2009 followed by its US debut one year later. Though the US model will probably have a slightly different powertrain offering than what the European market will see, GM says that the Cruze will still get at least 40 mpg on the highway. Not bad for a gasoline model, putting it in the diminutive Smart Fortwo's territory while delivering a bigger and safer car.

Excellent Engine, Transmission Choices Means 40+ MPG Highway

GM says that the Cruze will be available with 16-valve, 1.6-liter (112 hp) and 1.8-liter (140 hp) gasoline engines featuring variable valve timing (VVT) on both inlet and exhaust sides. This will give the car additional power as well as better fuel economy while producing lower emissions. The automaker's new 2.0-liter turbo diesel, developing 150 hp will add more power with even greater fuel thriftiness. A five-speed manual transmission will be standard, but an optional six-speed automatic transmission will round out the Cruze's offerings. The latter transmission choice is unusual in that it'll be the first time that a six-speed transmission is used in the compact car class.

Interior styling is still a bit of a mystery, one that GM plans to talk more about when the car officially makes its debut at the Paris Auto Show in September 2008. Seating for as many as five occupants is likely, with optimum capacity for four adults.

Will customers be attracted to the Cruze? That remains to be seen but with its arching roof-line and coupe-like proportions, the Cruze certainly has a sporty flair, something lacking in most cars of its size.

Look for the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze to appear in North American Chevy showrooms by Summer 2010.

If other people don't want to do the same thing, that is up to them, but to keep you and your loved ones safe you should look for a car that offers added protection. The security cell that features on the 2011 Hyundai Sonata will help you make up your mind if you have been indecisive about the car. The structure of the car's body is complex, with a special steel structure that can be found in the doors of the car.
